There is a new form of identification you will soon need to present when traveling domestically. The deadline of Oct. 1, 2020, has been extended a few years. The new deadline is May 7, 2025. The new identification will require residents to present a REAL ID-compliant document to fly in the U.S. and enter certain federal facilities under federal law. You can get a REAL ID-compliant driver's license or state ID from the Michigan Secretary of State’s Office.
